Age Related Eye Disease Study (AREDS)
There is currently no cure for macular degeneration or a drug that can create a reversal of macular degeneration. However, the National Eye Institute has had two studies to determine whether certain vitamins and minerals can slow the progression of AMD.

The first study, the Age Related Eye Disease Study, had fascinating results that revolutionized macular degeneration treatment options. AREDS discovered that taking high doses of Anti-Oxidants and Zinc can decrease the risk of developing AMD and slow its progression by up to 25%! When conducting the study, researchers created macular degeneration supplements with the following ingredients:

• 25, 000 International Units/15 mg of Vitamin A (Beta-Carotene)
• 500 mg of Vitamin C
• 400 International Units of Vitamin E
• 80 mg Zinc
• 2 mg Copper
