Doctor Krawitz is the original founder of Visivite Eye Vitamins and served as President and C.E.O. of Vitamin Science, Inc. from 2001-2022.
Dr. Krawitz is a Magna Cum Laude graduate of The University of Michigan, and received his medical degree in 1985 and has been a member of the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society.
Dr. Krawitz trained in Internal Medicine at Columbia-Presbyterian Hospital, New York. He completed his Ophthalmology training at Mount Sinai Medical Center, New York, and later was selected as Chief Resident of that program.
He completed an additional year of specialized fellowship training in Glaucoma at Mount Sinai under the direction of Steven Podos, a recognized world leader in that field.
Dr. Krawitz has served in academia as an Assistant Clinical Professor of Ophthalmology in Manhattan. He has also frequently lectured at professional ophthalmic meetings regarding his highly successful surgical techniques for cataracts, glaucoma and specialty intraocular lenses.
While he was in his position as President and C.E.O. of Vitamin Science, Inc., Dr. Krawitz originated several patents and trademarks for nutritional supplements that support eye health.
Since 1993, he has become one of Long Island's most highly sought and professionally recognized eye surgeons, most notably while as a physician partner of OCLI - performing over 1000 ophthalmic procedures annually. These procedures include no-stitch cataract surgery, the most modern therapies for glaucoma, laser refractive surgery, and laser treatment of both macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy.

Can I open the capsules and sprinkle the contents on a piece of bread, etc. I cannot swallow large pills and I need to find an Areds 2 foumula that I can swallow. Thanks.
Yes you can. In fact, one of the many benefits of VisiVite Eye Vitamins is that unlike the hardgels, softgels and tablets of other macular degeneration vitamin manufacturers, the vegetarian capsules can be opened and the powder placed in food or drink for people who have difficulty swallowing.
I take AREDS2 Select Formula. Can these cause nausea?
Although 99.6% of people tolerate VisiVite AREDS 2 Select without any side effects, people with sensitive stomachs can find that taking ANY supplement is difficult for them. If you are struggling, try opening the capsule and putting the powder directly into food or drink. That is usually effective for the few people in alleviating symptoms.
I\'m confused as to how many capsules of the AREDS 2 Select are to be taken each day. Is it one or two?
Take one capsule twice daily, for a total of two capsules daily. The Supplement Facts show the amounts per day, not per capsule.
You recommend AREDS for dry AMD, what about wet AMD and why is not indicated high zinc intake?
The AREDS 2 research showed no significant difference between 25 mg and 80 mg of daily zinc. Although some research shows that frequency of injections is reduced with AREDS formulas, the strongest results are with dry AMD, which can be of benefit in protecting the uninvolved (dry AMD) eye.
