Doctor Krawitz is the original founder of Visivite Eye Vitamins and served as President and C.E.O. of Vitamin Science, Inc. from 2001-2022.
Dr. Krawitz is a Magna Cum Laude graduate of The University of Michigan, and received his medical degree in 1985 and has been a member of the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society.
Dr. Krawitz trained in Internal Medicine at Columbia-Presbyterian Hospital, New York. He completed his Ophthalmology training at Mount Sinai Medical Center, New York, and later was selected as Chief Resident of that program.
He completed an additional year of specialized fellowship training in Glaucoma at Mount Sinai under the direction of Steven Podos, a recognized world leader in that field.
Dr. Krawitz has served in academia as an Assistant Clinical Professor of Ophthalmology in Manhattan. He has also frequently lectured at professional ophthalmic meetings regarding his highly successful surgical techniques for cataracts, glaucoma and specialty intraocular lenses.
While he was in his position as President and C.E.O. of Vitamin Science, Inc., Dr. Krawitz originated several patents and trademarks for nutritional supplements that support eye health.

I had LASIK surgery. At the time, it was recommended that I take Moistur-Eyes to help dry eyes. Can AREDS 2 replace the Moistur-Eyes for that purpose?

Has all needed except copper, as cupric oxide, 2 mugs daily, suggested by my doc. What about copper? Thanks for no zinc.
Copper is in AREDS 2 formulas with zinc to prevent anemia caused by the zinc. With a zinc-free formula such as VisiVite AREDS 2 White, there is no need for copper. Copper has no benefit for macular degeneration.
if you are diagnosed with MACULAR DEGENERATION can you take this vitiamin?
Yes, you can. This is the AREDS 2 formula without zinc, which may be detrimental to people with specific genetic markers. Because there is no zinc, there is no risk of zinc-induced anemia, so there is no copper needed in this formula.
Do you have this in powder form?
If you have difficulty swallowing, you can open the two pieces of the vegetarian capsule and put the powder over food or into a beverage.
Is it possible to develop anemia due to the high zinc in AREDS2, even with the 2 mg of copper added?
Copper is provided in a 1:40 ratio with zinc, which prevents anemia that could be induced by zinc. There are many causes of anemia that can occur, however, that are unrelated to zinc.
