A new study finds that drinking coffee with milk can have anti-inflammatroy effects.

Researchers at the University of Cophenhagen found the the combination of

proteins in milk and the polyphenols (a type of antioxidant) in coffee doubles the anti-inflammatory properties in immune cells.

The researchers examined how polyphenols react when combined with amino acids, which are the building blocks of proteins. in order to determine the anti-inflammatory effect of combining polyphenols with proteins, researchers added artificial inflammation to immune cells. Some cells received polyphenols that had reacted with an amino acid, other cells only received polyphenols in the same dose and then a control group didn't receive anything.

The results showed that the immune cells treated with the polyphenols and amino acids combination were twice as effective at fighting inflammation as the cells that only received polyphenols.
